9/11 The memories

There are so many memorial services, and many stories of survival and loss. I could go on for days about stories i have heard or read. The pictures the videos, the list goes on.

Remembering 9/11 Ten years later we Honour the memory of those who lost their lives, and give thanks for those who survived. We thank the first responders for their tireless efforts to save so many lives, We remember those who gave their lives. They are all Heroes!

So many lost  so much that day, and the world as we knew changed.

I know for certain that we never lose the people we love, even to death.  They continue to participate in every act, thought and decision we make.  Their love leaves an indelible imprint in our memories.  We find comfort in knowing that our lives have been enriched by having shared their love.   Leo Buscaglia

9/11 My Disgust

I was reading speech by Mayor Bloomberg

Mayor Bloomberg Delivers Major Address on the Rebirth of Lower Manhattan Since 9/11
I read this bit as saw red…..

“This Sunday, on the 10th anniversary of the attacks on America, each of us will reflect on where we were, what we were doing, who we were with, and most of all, who we lost: husbands and wives, parents and children, friends and colleagues, people we loved deeply and people we knew just casually, people whose stories we knew only from the news, people who gave their lives to save complete strangers.

Mayer Bloomberg, How can you stand up and say that when you totally disrespected each and every one of those you mentioned. The first responders… NOT invited…. Clergy…. NOT Invited….Yet you invite investors and say the first responders will have their own memorial at a different time and place. You have made this memorial all about money. shame on you, this could have been done at another time. You have basically turned a memorial for almost 3000 people into a fundraiser. How Dare you Trade off their memory.

One construction worker told 1010 WINS that he believes they should be invited this year.
“I think that they should be allowed to go because too many of their brothers and sisters lost their lives and they should be the first ones that are included,” he said. “They should make it happen. I’m sure there are going to be a lot of people here who shouldn’t be here.”

Former Mayor Rudolph Giuliani urged Mayor Michael Bloomberg on Thursday to reconsider his decision to bar religious leaders from speaking at the ceremony marking the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
“If I were the mayor, and this came up, I’d have a religious presence there,” said Mr. Giuliani during an interview with The Wall Street Journal.
“I think [Mr. Bloomberg] has a right to make the decision and say, ‘We’re going to do it exactly the same as we did it in the past,’”
So why cant it be done Mayor Bloomfield? I think many are asking the same Question, you still have time to make this right.  Is making investors happy more important than those who are to be remembered?  To say Im outraged and disgusted would be an understatement. There are no words that can describe how i feel.

9/11 Exclusion Spurs Outrage

Religious leaders are calling on Mayor Michael Bloomberg to reverse course and offer clergy a role in the ceremony commemorating the 10th anniversary of the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center.

Rudy Washington, a deputy mayor in former Mayor Rudolph Giuliani‘s administration, said he’s outraged. Mr. Washington organized an interfaith ceremony at Yankee Stadium shortly after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.

“This is America, and to have a memorial service where there’s no prayer, this appears to be insanity to me,” said Mr. Washington, who has suffered severe medical problems connected to the time he spent at Ground Zero. “I feel like America has lost its way.”

Michael Bloomberg Should reverse his decision,  Mr. Giuliani managed to do it right soon after the attacks, why cant it be done now??  I have to say I am totally disgusted at how this is going. First responders and Clergy not invited. This seems more like a press  opportunity than a Memorial Service. The blatant disrespect to the families and those who were first on the scene, to those who lost their lives and those who gave their lives is beyond my comprehension.

It can be done right, it has been in the past, so why cant it be now? In my opinion Michael Bloomberg’s decision is unforgivable.

9/11 My thoughts

I previously wrote about my disgust at the mayor of NY Mayor Michael Bloomberg,
and his decision NOT to invite the firemen and police who were first the scene.
Well personally i dont think i said enough.

Now there were 4 attacks in all and nearly 3,000 victims and all the 19 hijackers
died in the attacks. Now amongst the 2,753 victims who died in the World Trade
Center were 343 firefighters and 60 police officers from New York City and the
Port Authority, and 8 private emergency medical technicians and paramedics.

Now I dont live in NY, I dont even live in the US, but Bloomberg's decision says
to me he doesnt care about all those that risked their lives that day, nor those
that gave their lives, nor the survivors who are still suffering today. Instead
of respecting these survivors he has decided to ignore them for politicians, and
investors, not to mention the security staff for Obama. This would not be
happening if former Mayor Rudy Guiliani and George Bush were still in power
What the hell is this man thinking?????

This isnt about politics or investments, it about people, people who lost their
lives. We remember our fallen soldiers, we remember those who lost their lives on
9/11, we are allowed to show our respects and remember those lost, but the Firemen
and women, the Police men and women, who were there that day are NOT invited to
do the same.

We all remember where we were, and what we were doing when the news broke. Just
imagine what these heroes remember. Yes heroes who went in without regard for
their own lives, those who survived have had to live with the nightmares,
the illness, and the Post Traumatic Stress Dissorders. The courage and selfless
actions of those lost on that day and those that survived but later lost their
lives to illness or injurys, Demand they be honored and remembered by those still
here. Those that worked with them shared their lives with them, those that stood
side by side with them on a daily basis doing all they could to save lives.

What sort of example is this for our childern, is this really what we want
them to see?? Personally i think Michael Bloomberg should step back and think
about his decision, though I dont believe he will. How hard is it to add some
chairs, or at least have the decency to invite them. Nearly 3,000 victims died
that day, and all should be remembered by those who matter most, this is not
a time for ignorance, politics, or investments.

NYC firefighters not invited to 10th anniv of 9/11 at Ground Zero

According to CNN, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s office issued a statement saying that due to space constraints, this year’s September 11 memorial ceremony at ground zero (the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks) was to focus on the victims’ family members, and that first responders (and other groups) would be honored at “different places and times”:

Today I shake my head in total disgust. Now I may not be a US citizen but my country lost people too and personally I believe the death toll would have been higher if it werent for the men and women who put their lives on the line by being the first to respond. Remember some of them lost their lives too.

For the Mayor of NY to come out and say well sorry your not invited is nothing more than a slap in the face and a kick to the stomach to these brave people.

The Reason for this outrageous stand is because here is not enough room, not surprising since they invited all the politicians and investors who werent there risking their lives to save people, and I dont see them attending fires and accidents, and saving lives on  daily basis do you?

The powers that be say this is a time for those who lost members of their familes. All well and good but consider this, dont the members of a Fire House and a Police Precinct consider members family? They do in this country!

I believe they should be invited, and on top of the list with those that lost family members then and only then if there is enough room invite politicians and investors.
