WEEK IN REVIEW

Quite a lot happened over the last week, we began the week with the lack of common sense in today’s world. This lack is causing people to do some stupid things that end up taking lives. Take the teenage girl with her ipod earphones in listening to music, she had it so loud she never heard the warnings yelled at her before crossing a railway crossing and as a result walked out in front of a train. Accidents like this should not happen if we all use some common sense.

Next we had the launch of Zynga’s new game on Facebook, Mafia Wars 2. this was quite a disappointment, I had hoped Zynga had learnt some lessons from their original game, but apparently not. The game was glitchy with load errors, lockups. It was too busy and once again as with all Zynga games your forced to spam your friends. While on the subject Facebook have a couple of issues this week. firstly over cookies, nowit was claimed they were used to track what we look at. Facobook denies this, and says they “Facebook does not track users across the web. Instead, we use cookies on social plug-ins to personalise content (e.g. show you what your friends liked), to help maintain and improve what we do (e.g. measure click-through rate), or for safety and security (e.g. keeping underage kids from trying to sign up with a different age). No information we receive when you see a social plug-in is used to target ads, we delete or anonymise this information within 90 days, and we never sell your information.” well considering these cookies work when your logged out of facebook i would call it tracking. Facebook has another issue haunting them and that is they refuse to shut rape page run by schoolboy. Seriously they think this is right and proper?

We also had an actress Iranian actress Marzieh Vafamehr  who was sentenced to 9o lashes and 12 months in prison for her part in an australian produced film “My Tehran for Sale”.

We also had the Anniversary of the Bali bombings. on that day Deadly car and suicide bombs ripped through two Kuta nightclubs , killing 202 people including 88 Australians. Ceremonies were held across the nation to mark the ninth anniversary.

In Government news the Labour party had a win with the carbon tax bill and a loss with the  immigration proposal. well to me its a loose lose situation. Firstly with the carbon tax, some low income earners will be worse off despite the compensation package offered by the government. As for the proposal to deal with the assylum seekers, well what can i say?  both parties agree that off shore processing is whats needed yet here we are back to processing them onshore, which the people smugglers will no doubt take advantage of , so we can expect to see more arriving now. this will result in overcrowding in the detention centers. and some living outside the centers while they wait for processing.

Finally there is the 14 year old boy who while on vacation with his parents in Bali, who  found himself arrested for possession of drugs. He has tested positive for drugs and will be transfered to Kerobokan jail for processing. Dr Asrorum Niam says a judge can order the 14-year-old into a drug rehabilitation program, instead of prison, but he says the teenager should be treated in Indonesia, not Australia. He says Indonesian officials need to monitor the treatment and would not know if the boy was complying with the court’s decision if he was allowed to return to Australia.

Well that is the week in review hopefully next week will be a bit lighter. Stay safe!

Week in Review

Well it has been an interesting week for me. I have watched people on a social network complain about a free game they have spent so much money on they can’t afford to leave it. I wrote about that subject in my blog  Social Gaming; The biggest legal con. maybe those people need to remember they are free games and you do have the choice not to pay or let them con you out of your money.

What also astounded me was the reaction towards those that choose to leave a game. What happened to freedom of choice? Dont we have the freedom to decide what we do and don’t want to play? Does someone deserve to be rundown because they choose to no longer play a game?  this week I experienced this attitude first hand, I decided to stop playing a game that I had played for 3 years, the reaction to my decision left me feeling why did I bother? why did I help people in this game? are they just out for what they can get from you and when they can no longer get it they feel  have a right to abuse you for making this decision??

Now let me make this very clear, this was not a majority reaction it was a minority yet still their words hurt deeply. Why?? These people don’t really even know me, they don’t know what goes on in my life or what went on in my decision-making process, yet they feel the can have something nasty to say about my decision.  Is their life so shallow they can’t see any further than these games??

Now I must say the majority of people respect your personal choice, say thanks, we will miss you etc. others look at your decision and follow your lead, and others continue to play the game. i for one respect everyone’s decision , they are free to make their own choices, and I will support them in those choices.

To come out and ridicule, abuse,  and just be down right nasty to someone because of personal choices is very disrespectful and downright childish. Personally I am glad I don’t know these people in real life! I prefer to surround myself with positive thinkers, those can see further than a social game.

Now if you are one of those people who feel the need to abuse others because the personal choices they make don’t suit you, then you need to step back and take a good look at yourselves. Just because someones personal choice does not suit you does not give you the right to abuse or personally attack them. there are two old sayings that really apply here, think before you speak, and if you can’t say anything nice don’t say anything at all.

Personally i would have rather they didn’t say a word as they have cast a shadow over what to me was a great ride with some great people, people who I would not have had the chance to meet and form long-lasting friendships with had it not been for the game. For that i am forever thankful.

The Week in Review

This week has been a hard week for us all. Memories of 9/11 top the list. We all know where we were on that day and what we were doing. It was a day that changed the world we knew. Many around the world were outraged by the Mayor of NY when he announced he was not inviting First Responders and Clergy to the memorial. This was a time for all those involved to come together to share their memories and to remember those lost. Instead the Mayor invited politicians and investors, turning the memorial into a political event and nothing more than a fundraiser.

This week I touched on a variety of topics there was the Woolly Rhino fossil found in Tibet, this gives us more information on evolution.

I also looked at the falling popularity of the Labour Party under the leadership of Julia Gillard and the rising popularity of the former PM Kevin Rudd. It will be interesting to see how this turns out. Personally i wont take sides in this but i will say if they want any hope of winning the next election they better sort something out and soon.

The animals that make Australia a deathtrap was a tongue in cheek look at the deadly creatures we have here in Australia, yes they do exist and the most commonly seen is the box jellyfish. Beaches are closed when they are about. the others are also seen but not as often as you would think.

We also had some trivia thrown in this week, with the Human world, as well as other blogs that had a funny side like the drunk moose, and of course Gumby holding up a store.

There were more posts that didnt reach my blog but can be found on my Facebook page

Well thats the week in review and i would like to leave  this quote in  Memory of those lost but never forgotten..

Although it’s difficult today to see beyond the sorrow,
May looking back in memory help comfort you tomorrow.

The Week in Review

Well it has been an interesting week, ending in Fathers day, so to all the Dads, Granddads I would like to wish you all a very happy Fathers day.

We started out the week with a man who hit a kangaroo which ended up in his passenger seat. He was beyond lucky, i have had a family member killed hitting one. I am sure it was a shock to find it just sitting there though.

Next we had the croc in the pool, it would certainly motivate me to swim faster lol. I cant imagine why some people do what they do. Take the next story of the guy getting pleasure from a pasta sauce jar, I mean really, come on he couldnt find someone??  The fine he got would have been enough to pay someone Seriously!!!!

Then we get to the serious issue, the Mayor on NY not inviting the first responders to the memorial of 9/11. To put politics and investments over the Heroes is so wrong.  I wont go into another rant about it here, but i would like to direct you to another blog on the same subject. Rita Reno wrote an awesome blog on this very subject, and is well worth reading.  http://coffeenchat.wordpress.com/2011/09/02/9-11-slap-in-the-face/

While you are there check ot the story of the 4 year old dressed up as Dolly Parton complete with fake boobs and butt. this is so wrong on many levels and i could go into it here but think Rita Reno said it all in her exceptional blog.

Toddlers, Tiaras and Hooplas- Oh My!!!
